Abruzzo: Nails to Confindustria, health goals achieved
(ASCA) - L'Aquila, 19 May 2014 - "In the rating developed by the Ethics Foundation, Abruzzo is in sixth place in the ranking of the most efficient regions in health care"'. This was stated this morning during a meeting organized by Confindustria by the president of the Abruzzo region, Gianni Chiodi, who recalled the objectives achieved in these five years at the assembly of associates. “The first request Confindustria made to me the day after the election concerned the health issue: with that deficit and that mountain of debt, I was told, it would never have been possible to embark on a path of development for the Region. The work carried out in recent years has led us to achieve the required objectives: we have a balanced region, the levels of assistance have significantly improved, and all this has been done without resorting to linear cuts. Today we spend more on healthcare in the area, but we spend better, avoiding waste and disservices. As for passive mobility, it accounts for 2.5% on the total expenditure of over two billion euros. Our work shows that it is possible to improve assistance by reducing debt, which is what we set ourselves at the beginning of our mandate”. “It is true – continued Chiodi – that in Abruzzo there is a crisis situation, as in the rest of the country but nevertheless we have managed to reduce taxes for citizens and businesses and we are supporting businesses with a new Confidi policy. In healthcare, there are no longer delays in paying suppliers, and we have launched important reforms on bureaucracy, such as dematerialisation and investment in infrastructures which will lead to a speeding up of the administrative machine".
